Which exam do I need?
For German citizenship, you need a B1 certificate (Goethe-Zertifikat B1 or telc Deutsch B1). For permanent residency, A2 or B1 depending on the federal state. For spouse/family visas, A1.
Goethe vs telc — which is better?
Both are officially recognised for the same purposes. Goethe is administered worldwide by the Goethe-Institut and has stronger international brand recognition. telc is more widely available inside Germany at lower cost. The CEFR competencies tested are identical.
How accurate is the AI grading?
Our AI examiners use the CEFR rubrics published by Goethe-Institut and telc GmbH and are calibrated against published examiner reports. Writing feedback covers task fulfilment, coherence, vocabulary range and grammatical accuracy; speaking feedback adds pronunciation and fluency.
